Every Queen Deserves Her Crown

Each year I search high and low through vintage shops and antique markets looking for vintage trims so I can recreate and hand sew them into new wearable hair treasures. This year many of the trims I found for the Czarina collection were once part of vintage sari’s which you can tell by the gold embellishments and decorative details. There is a beauty to vintage trims, the work and techniques that went into them and the mystery of not knowing who exactly owned them before and what their original use would have been.

The vintage trims I’ve used in this collection would have been used to decorate the edges of garments. It always seems to me such a shame for these beautiful and rare pieces of history not to fulfill their original purpose that their previous owners had intended for them. This is why I love reusing them and taking the time to make them into a new wearable piece that will be cherished and loved for years to come. That all said! This collection also brings with it a new style of headband that I have been working on which has a higher arch and more pronounced shape. I truly hope you love each piece as much as I enjoyed making them.
